Arriving in Belmar, you'll find some of the cleanest and most beautiful beaches on the Jersey Shore.  This borough of Monmouth County, N.J. boasts wide beaches with areas for sunbathing, swimming and fishing. Surfing is among the most popular pursuits - indeed, Belmar is considered one of the top surf spots on the East Coast, and hosts a pro surf contest every year.  The beaches are family-friendly, with colorful and fun playgrounds located every few blocks for the younger set. Educational signs at various locations allow passers-by to learn about the local plant life, birds and animals. 

Belmar allows for plenty of shopping downtown, fine and casual dining experiences, award winning night spots, beautiful parks and one of New Jersey's premier marinas, on the gorgeous Shark River. Belmar Marina offers 70 + slips and transportation to Belmar’s beaches on weekends throughout the summer.  Belmar is home to the New Jersey Seafood Festival and a record attending St. Patrick’s Day Parade -There is an active arts scene in Belmar as well. The Belmar Arts Council sponsors regular shows, workshops, concerts and performances throughout the year. Visiting Husiman Gazebo or Taylor Pavilion will always bring a pleasant experience.  There's always something to do or watch when you venture onto the boardwalk. Among Belmar's other annual events are a fall festival; the New Jersey Sand Castle Contest; a tree lighting ceremony to ring in the holidays; a kite festival in the springtime; and the Belmar Elks Club Polar Bear Plunge. In all seasons, this town truly celebrates the outdoors, particularly the beauty of the coastline.   

This affordable community offers a place for everyone to fit in, as the population is divided fairly evenly between families and single or unrelated households. The borough has grown steadily in population but as of 2010, was just 5,794 - a manageable size without being dull.  

Students attend Belmar Elementary School from preschool through eighth grade before moving to one of several public high schools in the area, based on sending/receiving relationships. Students may also attend a number of specialized high schools, such as the Marine Academy of Science and Technology, the Academy of Allied Health and Science, Communications High School or Biotechnology High School. Private-school options include St. Rose High School, St Rose Grammer School, and St Catherines in Spring Lake which operate under the Roman Catholic Diocese of Trenton; Masivta Kaser Torah of Central Jersey, a Yeshiva school for men; and the Academy Charter High School.  

Belmar is conveniently located in close proximity to Philadelphia and New York City, as well as New Jersey's capital city, Trenton and an hour drive down the coast, lands you in Atlantic City.  As an added note, this borough also boasts a rich history with plenty of interesting trivia. Belmar's "E" Street inspired the name for Bruce Springsteen's world-famous E Street Band. Keyboardist David Sancious lived on the street, and his family home was often used as a practice venue in the band's early years. Belmar is also home to the first and oldest first-aid squad in the United States
